Coach Jose here and I want to talk about training equipment. I remember as a beginner I was not sure what equipment to get or what to use for class. I’m here to help! This is what equipment you should have and use for classes.
Kardio Kickboxing (KKB)
- 16oz gloves
- Handwraps
- Shin Guards (this is optional if you want to toughen up your shins do not use them)
Kickboxing Fundamentals/Kickboxing Advanced/Muay Thai
- 16oz gloves
- Handwraps
- Shin Guards
- Mouthpiece
- Headgear
- Elbow pads
- Knee pads
- Cup
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)
- 4oz gloves or 7 oz gloves (I would have both just depends on what the coach wants that day)
- Handwraps
- Shin Guards
- Mouthpiece
- Headgear
- Elbow pads
- Knee pads
- Cup
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ/BJJ END)
- Gi top and bottom
- Belt
- Mouthpiece
Just like a carpenter needs tools for his job, so do you. You do not want to be the person that comes to class not prepared. Not only are you more prone to injury but we must make the class work with you not having the right gear. Trust me making a $20 investment on a mouthpiece is better than paying $2000 at the dentist.
